My name is Dawn Chavous, the Founder and President of Chavous Consulting. My goal in my work is to help our communities thrive. I founded Chavous Consulting to solve issues that result in positive impacts on our community. My long-standing and diverse career in Philadelphia has given me the opportunity to work with organizations and clients that directly impact women, children, families, and businesses on the community level and work to enhance the goals and community engagement efforts of Chavous Consulting clients. I strongly believe access to resources should not be defined by zip code.

MOMPRENEUR

A mompreneur is a woman who sets up and runs her own business in addition to caring for her young child or children. That is Dawn, in a nutshell. She has been in business for over 11 years but her first priority is her two young boys who she loves dearly. Having navigated through the pandemic over the last two years, Dawn has also learned how to become a teacher when the world shut down, to supplement virtual learning for both of her children - all while never missing a beat with meeting and exceeding client expectations.

ADVOCATE

Martin Luther King said, "in the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends and injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." With that in mind, Dawn believes to be silent is to be complicit and that each one of us can play a role in calling out injustice and fighting for a more fair and equitable society - just by using our voice and refusing to be silent. To that end, she serves as an advocate for women's rights, #SayHerName, and a more fair society - all with the goal of righting wrongs and leaving this world a bit better than she has found it.

AUTHOR

Dawn was inspired to write a children's book of affirmation in honor of her two boys but more specifically as a result of her eldest son telling her he wasn't special. That conversation not only crushed her but also inspired the idea for the book to remind her children as well as other children throughout the country and world, that they are more than enough, they can do anything, and being who you are is what makes you special.
